8 Pour-fect Valentine's Day Cocktail Recipes

Posted by Man Crates on

Want to make this Valentine’s Day special, but also keep it low-pressure? You’ve come to the right place. In addition to providing the very best gifts for men, we are also known as love gurus (do not fact check this, please). And we know that nothing says romance like carefully crafted cocktails, with a Valentine’s twist. There’s no need to book some last-minute reservation at a fancy restaurant. Stay in, get cozy and create an unforgettable evening with your significant other.

Here are eight of the best cocktail recipes for Valentine’s that you will ever sip lovingly. Now, cue the Barry White music.

Between the Sheets

A vintage cocktail from the roaring ‘20s, a decade where they knew a lot more about drinking than they did investing. This one is a bit sweet, but still packs a bit of a punch with three different types of liquor. Pow, right in the kisser. Believe it or not, this also pairs very well with our Salami Bouquet.

1 ounce brandy
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce Cointreau
1 ounce lemonade
Twist of lime
Dash of simple syrup

Hot Pants
Make this sweet ‘n’ salty concoction for just a few people and pretty soon everybody will be talking about your hot pants and how they haven’t lived until they’ve tried your hot pants. Double entendres make for great fun. Interestingly, in New York and New Jersey this drink is called the HOW YOU DOIN’?

1 lemon wedge
1 tsp. salt
1.5 ounce tequila
¾ ounce peppermint schnapps
¾ ounce grapefruit juice
1 tsp. powdered sugar

Silk Stocking

Do not confuse this with the cheesy ‘90s crime drama starring Rob Estes on the USA Network, that’s Silk Stalkings. It’s an easy mistake to make, though it reveals questionable taste. This drink is much classier. It’s not always easy to find reasons to go out and buy Cream de Cacao and Chambord, but we just found one. You’re welcome.

1½ ounce tequila
1½ ounce white cream de cacao
¼ ounce Chambord
1 ounce heavy cream
Pinch of cinnamon

Spanish Fly
This is the sexy drink Dudley Moore offered Goldie Hawn in the famous scene in Foul Play. It didn’t turn out well for him, which is odd because few British men have oozed more sex appeal than the Duds. Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, John Oliver, Dudley Moore and then of course Prince Charles. Wow, it really drops off there after the top two.

2 ounces mezcal
1 ounce Grand Marnier
1 tsp. of iced coffee
Pour over ice and shake

Citrus Aphrodisiac
Be careful with this powerful elixir that has been known to unleash uninhibited behavior. Frothing of the mouth, panting and cold sweats are all possible…no wait, we were reading from our dog’s prescription bottle again, that’s our bad. This drink is totally safe and the only side effect is a rare condition known as “randiness.”

1½ ounces whiskey
1 ounce Damiana liqueur
3 ounces tangerine juice
1 tablespoon honey
1 splash of 7UP or Sprite
Slice of lime

Casablanca

After mixing this fancy cocktail, hand it to your significant other, look in his/her eyes and say “we’ll always have Paris.” If you get a confused look in return, it means this person has never seen Casablanca and you should dump them immediately. Just kidding, but insist they watch the movie with you at once.

2 ½ ounces light rum
1 ounce Cointreau
½ ounce Maraschino liqueur
½ ounce lime juice

Madeira M'dear
This is the ideal drink for the guy and gal who like to parade around the house waaaay overdressed. Like he's in his tux with tails and she's in a floor-length gown with gloves to the elbow and that fancy cigarette extender thing. Everyone else can just pretend to be pretentious by drinking this and overusing words like "sweetums" and "darling."

1 ½ ounces brandy
1 ounce Madeira
½ ounce Triple Sec
1 tsp. grenadine

Hot Marie

A nice little twist on the hot toddy, the Hot Marie makes for the perfect night cap. Its taste is truly enhanced if enjoyed while on a bearskin rug in a Swiss chalet. Setting a mood is important, you know.

¾ ounce dark rum (Captain Morgan’s suggested)
¾ ounce brandy
¼ ounce Tia Maria
8 ounces coffee
1 tsp. sugar
Poor the coffee into the drink last and stir.
